Your Role as a Teacher
📚 Planning & Instruction
- Teach 3 of 4 classes on an alternating A/B 90-minute block schedule, serving students every other day within your assigned content area.
- Facilitate one 30-minute Personalized Learning Time (PLT) block focused on intervention, enrichment, credit recovery, or targeted skill development.
- Engage in unit internalization and curriculum planning using school-adopted materials; submit weekly lesson plan arcs with rigorous objectives, aligned assessments, and teacher exemplars.
- Collaborate during your daily planning block, including:
- Co-planning with department members
- Weekly coaching meetings
- Biweekly Professional Learning Community (PLC) meetings to analyze academic data
- Co-planning with department members
- Track and analyze academic and behavioral data using school-wide systems and maintain timely grade submissions.
- Implement supports and accommodations for English Language Learners (ELL) and students with diverse learning needs.
- Utilize instructional technology platforms (e.g., Google Suite, Infinite Campus, Kickboard) to support instruction and communication.
🏫 School Duties & Expectations
- Maintain an 8:00 am – 4:00 pm workday, including assigned arrival and dismissal duties.
- Participate in Staff Huddles (Monday and Friday mornings).
- Serve weekly rotating duties (lunch, hallway, or transitions).
- Attend weekly department or grade-level meetings held before school.
- Engage in ongoing professional development, including:
- 3 weeks of summer faculty training
- Biweekly after-school professional learning sessions (1st and 3rd Tuesdays)
- 3 weeks of summer faculty training
- Contribute to school-wide events such as family engagement nights, academic showcases, and recognition programs.
Estimated additional time commitment outside the standard workday is approximately 30 hours per school year (may vary).
🌱 Student Mentorship & Advisory
- Serve as an advisor to a small cohort of students, supporting academic monitoring, goal-setting, and social-emotional development.
- Deliver advisory, SEL-based, or Morning Mindfulness lessons aligned to state standards.
- Supervise and participate in school-wide activities including Walk & Talk sessions, Club Days, field trips, assemblies, and special events.
- Uphold and model the school’s values, culture systems, and student management policies.
- Maintain Tier 1 classroom management and follow the progressive discipline matrix when necessary.
- Track and input behavior data into Kickboard to ensure strong communication with families and school leaders.
- Participate in Grade-Level Community Meetings recognizing scholars who exemplify integrity, imagination, drive, collaboration, and inquiry.
- Implement ELL accommodations across all content areas.
🎓 Role Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Ability to secure a teaching permit if not licensed
- Authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship
- Must pass MNPS background check
